Szidonia Csiki (Szifianna) - Romania

bio:

My name is Csiki Szidónia, a contemporary jewelry designer from Transylvania, Romania. I hold both a Bachelor's and a Master’s degree in Graphic Art and Printmaking from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca. My passion for wearable art led me to an internship with Tanel Veenre’s Kingdom of Dreams jewelry brand in Tallinn, Estonia, where I further developed my artistic voice. Currently, I work as a designer and maker at Monom Jewellery, where we work at the intersection of form, minimalism and elegance.Over the years, I’ve held several personal exhibitions showcasing my contemporary jewelry work. My pieces have also been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including Autor in Bucharest, Budapest Jewelry Week, Budapest Design Week, Transilvania Design Week, and internationally at Alice Floriano Gallery in Brazil. My work reflects a deep connection to narrative, texture, and the silent power of objects worn close to the body.

statement:

Dichotomia explores dualities: presence and absence, man-made and spiritual, weight and lightness. Two works feature etched plexiglass with drypoint columns beneath a hovering abstract mass—symbols of structure and the beyond. The third piece, devoid of columns, reflects harmony untouched by human hands. The transparent, ink-filled lines on plexiglass emphasize contrast, supported by delicate silver constructions that heighten the tension between fragility and solidity. Fraying linen strips transform each piece into a wearable necklace, connecting the conceptual to the body. Rooted in intuition, Dichotomia merges my passions for conceptual art, printmaking, and silversmithing.
