Erato Kouloubi - Greece

bio:

Erato Kouloubi was born in Athens, where she lives and works as a contemporary jewelry designer and curator. She studied jewelry design and silversmithing at the Mokume School in Greece, followed by further studies in Gemology. In 2008, she co-founded the "Popeye loves Olive" Art Space, a pioneering gallery in Athens dedicated to contemporary jewelry and tattoo art. Her work has been exhibited extensively in major international jewelry fairs and galleries across Europe and the USA, establishing her as a key figure in the Greek contemporary jewelry scene.

statement:

The work of Erato Kouloubi is characterized by a deep exploration of form, volume, and the symbolic power of materials. She often utilizes non-traditional materials, such as resins and synthetic fibers, alongside precious metals to create bold, architectural pieces that challenge the boundaries of wearability. Her designs are often inspired by internal human structures, cellular forms, and the concept of "protection," resulting in jewelry that acts as a modern armor or a secondary skin for the wearer. For the artist, jewelry is a medium of visual communication that bridges the gap between the intimate space of the body and the external world.
