Carmen Lopez - Spain
bio:
Ceramics and enamel teacher at the Art and Design schools of Huelva and Seville (Spain). I am currently diving into the world of contemporary jewelry, mixing enamel, recycled plastic with silver. My pieces are often shown in various exhibition spaces in Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Switzerland…
My work revolves around the conceptual world. My travel companion is a spoon. Metals, enamels and recycled plastics are my allies.
I want my jewelry to carry a secret code that only the spoon and I know.
My passions are teaching and working in my studio.
statement:
Am I me or am I my shadow?
Am I what I think I am, or am I what I think others think?
That duality is also me.
The positive and the negative, desire and its absence, the spiritual and the mundane make up my being.
With these contradictions, I live and reaffirm myself.
Days full of light and joy do not exist in me without days full of shadows and melancholy.
I am the one who is and the one who imagines I am.
The spoon as a symbol and metaphor for my daily work, an object to which I grant the power of my creative identity.
The profile of Piero del Pollaiuolo's Lady represents this idea that presence is not possible without its corresponding absence.
