In this exhibition, curated by Ana Pina and Tincal Lab, artists used travel as a source of inspiration — exploring memories and materials, landscapes, favorite destinations, and means of transport — presenting not only pieces of jewelry, but also reflections, stories, and works of art.
After its first stop at Lalabeyou (Madrid) and a second at Galleria Carlo Lucidi (Rome), Tincal Lab Challenge 2023: Jewelry and Travel arrives at Uni.Versus Art Room with a selection from the original exhibition — featuring almost 150 pieces by 61 jewelers.

Tincal Lab is a contemporary jewelry work+shop space, founded in 2015, by Portuguese jeweler Ana Pina in Porto, Portugal. Under the motto “curating and experimenting in contemporary jewelry”, Tincal Lab has been an active space for both making and exhibiting contemporary jewelry. It regularly hosts curated workshops with invited jewelers, as well as individual and group exhibitions featuring both local and international artists.
The Tincal Lab Challenge is an annual initiative that begins with an open call to jewelers from around the world and culminates in a collective exhibition and sale, launched every November at Tincal Lab. With the main objective of showcasing the quality and diversity of contemporary jewelry — and making it more accessible to the general public — Tincal Lab invites artists to take on a challenge: the creation of up to three pieces, within a set price limit, inspired by a chosen theme.
